Pre-Apprentice Administrative Assistant
Part-Time · Approx. 20 hrs/week · 3–4 Month Federal Pre-Apprenticeship
Position Summary
Legacy Foundation Corporation, a subsidiary of Connect Community Access, is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Pre-Apprentice Administrative Assistant to support daily administrative and operational activities while participating in the organization's workforce development initiative.
This position is part of Legacy Foundation Corporation's Federal Pre-Apprenticeship Program, designed to prepare individuals for potential enrollment into the organization's U.S. Department of Labor Registered Apprenticeship Program.
The Pre-Apprenticeship provides structured work experience, coaching, mentoring, and competency-based skill development over approximately three to four months. Through this guided workforce development pathway, participants have the opportunity to build foundational administrative competencies while both the participant and the organization assess long-term career fit. Participants who successfully demonstrate the required competencies, performance expectations, and organizational fit may be considered for a full-time Administrative Assistant position and subsequent enrollment into the organization's U.S. Department of Labor Registered Apprenticeship Program, subject to organizational needs, funding availability, and program eligibility.
Compensation
Legacy Foundation Corporation, a subsidiary of Connect Community Access, reasonably expects to pay between $18.00 and $25.00 per hour for this position. Actual compensation will depend on experience, education, skills, and internal equity.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Under the guidance of supervisors and mentors, the Pre-Apprentice Administrative Assistant will:
- Provide administrative support to assigned departments.
- Prepare letters, reports, meeting agendas, correspondence, and presentations.
- Maintain electronic and paper filing systems.
- Schedule meetings and maintain calendars.
- Answer and direct telephone calls and respond to email inquiries professionally.
- Greet visitors and provide excellent customer service.
- Enter and maintain accurate organizational data.
- Assist with document preparation and records management.
- Coordinate office supplies and support day-to-day office operations.
- Support project coordination and administrative activities.
- Assist with special projects and community initiatives.
- Follow established office procedures and organizational policies.
- Maintain confidentiality of organizational and participant information.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Ability to communicate professionally verbally and in writing.
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Attention to detail.
- Ability to learn new technology.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Excellent customer service skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Coursework or experience in business, administration, customer service, or office support.
- Experience using Microsoft Office 365 or Google Workspace.
- Experience working in a nonprofit or community-based organization is preferred but not required.
- Bilingual skills are a plus.

Career Pathway
This position serves as the entry point into Legacy Foundation Corporation's Federal Pre-Apprenticeship Program and provides participants with a guided workforce development pathway designed to prepare them for potential transition into the U.S. Department of Labor Registered Apprenticeship Program.
Participants who successfully complete the pre-apprenticeship evaluation period and demonstrate the required competencies may be considered for:
Administrative Assistant (Full-Time)
Succesful candidates will be offered enrollment into the organizations U.S. Department of Labor Registered Apprenticeship Program
Selection for full-time employment and apprenticeship enrollment is based on organizational needs, performance, funding availability, and successful completion of all program requirements.
Participation in the Pre-Apprenticeship Program does not guarantee employment or enrollment in the Registered Apprenticeship Program.
